The cylinders, which act as projection frames, are constructed of materials quite similar to Celluloid. The stars and other sky objects are part of the cylinder. Illumination is accomplished by the use of light bulbs inside the cylinders - the standard type system for this class of planetarium.
Rigel
star cylinders are manually created and digitized into our special design
program. Two important considerations were placed into our system: (1) correct
magnitudes and (2) compensation for image deviation near the edges of the
cylinders.
It
is important to note that these factors are not always included in competitive
systems. Because CANOPUS believes their inclusion is a necessity, our brightness
of our stars are with the correct magnitude. The result is that Rigel provide
its customers with the finest and most authentic representation of the night
sky.
The cylinder of the Rigel planetarium projects 2750 stars, 13 objects of the deep space (incluided the Large and Small Magellanic clouds), and 6 stars of colors.
It has 12 small holes around their body to place the magnetized small slides of the planets, the moon, the sun and the comet there. These holes are located in the 12 zodiacal constellations, in the lines of the ecliptic, This way, the planets, moon and sun can be projected where they are in the sky according to the time of the month or year.
If we don't want to project any image, the opaque masks should be placed to block the light of the bulb. The cylinders attach to the acrylic platform through 4 magnets.
Due to the delicate material of the cylinders, (celluloid) the cylinder the stars cylinder of the Rigel projector has an internal frame of acrylic that offers rigidity.
Both the cylinders and the platform where they stay, have the same design and size that other mobile planetariums of the market, therefore it is compatible with astronomical cylinders or of other topics that are sold in the market.

As complement, we have available three cylinders with astronomical topics:
* MILKY WAY CYLINDER
This is the cylinder of magnitude 5,45 with the 6 stars of colors and 13 objects Messier, with the Milky Way recorded in the same one. It represents a sutil and impacting vision of the spiral arm of our galaxy.
* MESSIER AND N.G.C. CYLINDER
Scorpius-Sagittarius and M4, M6, M7, M8 y M 22
It is of mag. 5,45 cylinder with the incorporation of 40 Messier and N.G.C. objects (galaxies, nebulas and stellar clouds) These objects consist of digitized small and modified pictures, incorporated to the cylinder. They are located in theirr real astronomical position, and their projection size in the dome is approximately 200 mm. The pictures are in real colors, except some stellar and globular clouds what are projected in grayscale. The inclusion of the 40 objects of the deep space, transforms this cylinder, is ideal to offer a widespread vision of different objects which inhabit our galaxy, and its location in the celestial sphere. Advisable for classes of intermidiet level or higher.
* CELESTIAL COORDINATED CYLINDER
It is a cylinder of 900 stars until the magnitude 4,3 . The Right Ascension and the Declination they are represented with their numerations. The ecliptic, the celestial equator, the points of the equinoxes, the galactic equator, the celestial poles etc. It allows a bigger understanding of the apparent movement of the stars in the celestial sphere and the location of the earth inside the solar system and the Milky Way.
* SYNOPTICS CONSTELLATIONS CYLINDER
Cylinder of magnitude 5,45 with a new design in many of the silhouettes of the 88 constellations, for a better likeness between the meaning of the constellation and their schematized figure. It has labeled the name of each constellation, and of the 30 more brilliant stars of the firmament. These stars, have a size bigger than projection to stand out on the other ones.
TRANSPARENCIES FOR CYLINDERS
We
offer a new and innovative projection system with cylinders.
It
consists on a cylinder of acrylic that allows to place in their interior,
transparencies of varied topics this way to saave the purchase of numerous
cylinders assembled.
Once
the transparencies are placed in their interior, they completes the same
function that the standard cylinders.
