SOLAR and LUNAR ECLIPSE PROJECTOR (OPTIONAL)

A small, motorized eclipse projector (independent of the main CANOPUS projector) can, within two minutes, simulate (1) both a total and partial lunar eclipse as well as a (2) total, partial, and annular solar eclipse.

To demonstrate a Total Lunar Eclipse, an image of a Full Moon is projected on the dome. By starting the eclipse projector motor, the Full Moon begins to darken and passes through its normal phases of gibbous, First Quarter, crescent, and New when it is totally dark. The eclipse simulation continues through New, crescent, Third Quarter, gibbous and finally back to Full Moon.

The Partial Lunar Eclipses program is similar to the Total Eclipse program except that during the eclipse’s mid-point, rather than being totally dark, a portion of the Moon remains visible.

Different moments  of an eclipse of moon

To demonstrate a total, partial, and annular Solar Eclipse, a light yellow disk is projected on the dome to represent the Sun. The effect is almost identical to Lunar Eclipse systems. The eclipse projector motor slowly darkens the Sun until it is completely covered (a total eclipse), partially covered (a partial eclipse), or almost completely covered (an annular eclipse) by leaving a ring of light around the Sun’s outer edge.

The Eclipse projector connects to a 12-volt power source outlet located on the control panel of each CANOPUS projector. This feature allows the client the flexibility of purchasing the Eclipse projector as an independent system.

The solar and Lunar eclipse projector is just one of a number of unique features that are built into every CANOPUS projection system.
